Choose the right inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD), and length for your flow rate, pump, and system layout. Proper sizing ensures optimal flow, easier cleaning, and correct fitting compatibility.

Make sure the hose is rated for the full temperature range it will encounter — from cold chilled products to hot process liquids and CIP solutions. Always check the continuous operating temperature range.

Identify what the hose will carry, how often it’s used, and the environment. Common applications include product transfer (beer, wine, spirits, juice, dairy, etc.), CIP/cleaning service, utilities, and fixed process or portable use.

Select a hose material that is compatible with all fluids and chemicals it will contact, including products, cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and other media. Common options include chlorobutyl, EPDM, UHMW, and other specialty rubbers.

Verify that the maximum working pressure (MWP) of the hose meets or exceeds your system requirements. Also consider pressure spikes from pumps and valve closures, and confirm vacuum rating if the hose will be used for suction service.

Choose the correct end fittings for your system — typically tri-clamp for sanitary service, but also camlock, NPT (threaded), barb, or other options. Ensure the fitting type and size match your equipment and are properly crimped.

Consider the expected service life, required certifications (e.g., FDA, NSF, 3-A), lead time, and product availability. A durable hose with the right construction and cover will perform reliably through repeated use, cleaning cycles, and the beverage production environment.
